John Thomas Wyer, Jr.
John Thomas Wyer, Jr., age 80, of Ripon, died January 8, at his home.
He was born Dec. 9, 1923, in Mason County, Iowa, the son of John Thomas and Ethel (Burris) Wyer. He graduated from high school in Chicago. On May 4, 1942, he married Shirley M. Gault. John served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II from February, 1943 to January, 1946. John and his family lived in Neillsville while working for American Stores in the 1950's. He had his own painting and decorating business in Ripon before retiring. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Survivors include five children, Michele M. Benson of Ripon, Patrick K. Wyer of Fond du Lac, Valerie (Ken Then) Wyer of Sun Prairie, Jacqueline J. (Michael Shepard) Wyer of Ojibwa, and Sean L. (Sheila) Wyer of Brandon; six grandchildren, Christopher and Rachel Wyer, Ian Seth, James and Wendy Benson, and Casey Wyer; one great-grandchild, Melissa; and a special friend, Delores Stone.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; parents, one brother, and four sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Jan. 31, at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Interment with graveside military honors was at St. Patrick Catholic Church cemetery.
