Wold, Helmar C. (3 MAR 1893 - 13 Mar 1926)
Helmar Carl Wold was born March 3, 1893, at Downsville, Dunn Co., Wis., and passed away on March 13, 1926, at his home in the town of Worden, Clark County, Wis. Mr. Wold grew to manhood at Downsville, and when his country was calling for volunteers, was among the first to answer the call. He enlisted June 11, 1918 and went to Great Lakes and from there to Hampton Roads, where he sailed on the U. S. S. Nevada, which boat was escort to the U. S. S. George Washington, on which the President sailed. He was released and at home three years when he received honorable discharge.
He was married on Nov. 10, 1919, to Florence Cotts, to whom one child, Wilbert Helmar, was born. The family came into the town of Worden to make their home on March 13, 1924, and have formed a great many acquaintances and found many firm friends, who proved their worth during the last few days of his life, and during the days of bereavement. As all that human hands could do was done for his relief, but the Commander of all knew best and called him to himself, where there are no battles to be fought and no pain to be borne, where all is peace and rest.
He leaves, besides his wife, a small son, a father and mother, five brothers, Louie, John, Arnt, Raymond and Charles, four sisters, Charlotte, Reba, Inga and Mrs. Edward Smith, and a host of friends who will miss him greatly.
The remains were taken to his childhood home on Monday, where services will be held and interment made.
