Johnson, Dennis W. (1939? – 28 February 1997)
Dennis W. Johnson of Camarillo died Feb. 28, 1997, after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Johnson was born in Wisconsin and had resided in California for 35 years.
For the past nine years, he had been employed by Veda Inc. as a senior
electronics engineer. Recently, he was honored with the Veda Outstanding
achievement Award for extraordinary dedication and performance. He had
previously been employed by Pacific Missile Testing and fondly recognized by his
peers as “Mr. Sparrow” for his expertise on the Sparrow missile. He had also
served in support systems for the F-14, F-18 and Phoenix.
Long active in the community, he participated in Y-Indian Guides, Camarillo
baseball, Eagles Soccer Club, St. Bonaventure Boosters with his son and local
gymnastics with his daughter.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marj; sons, Brian of San Jose and Bryce of
Camarillo; daughter, Jodi of Camarillo; mother, Evelyn; brother and wife, Robert
and Tudie Johnson of Neillsville, Wis.; mother and father-in-law, Deane and
Jerry Reep of Camarillo; and brothers-in-law, Larry Mendenhall of Dallas, Tex,
and Thad Mendenhall and family of Chesapeake, Va.
Services are to be held Tuesday, March 4, 1997, at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of the
Islands, Conejos Mountain Memorial Park in Camarillo, with the Rev. Robert H.
Brown.
