June M. Nelson

June M. Nelson, age 68, of Humbird, died on Wednesday, June 2 at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

She was born on June 6, 1935, in Niles, Ill., to George and Myrtle (Hummer) Hedlin. She married Merle L. Nelson on Jan. 29, 1953, in Roscoe, South Dakota. She was a wonderful grandmother and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Other special pastimes included craftwork such as needlepoint, crocheting and ceramics. She also enjoyed flower gardening and playing cards. She was a member of the Rumbird Community Club.

June is survived by one son, Don (Donna) Nelson, of Humbird; one brother, Gordon Redlin, of Punta Gorda, Florida; one brother-in- law, Orville Schneider, of Springfield, South Dakota; one sister, Shirley Ashley, of Aberdeen, South Dakota; seven grandchildren; besides other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle, on April 3, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Jean Schneider, and her brother, Bob Hedlin.

Funeral services for June M. Nelson were held Saturday, June 5 at the Countryside Evangelical Free Church, Merrillan, with Reverend Phillip Saul who officiated. Burial will take place in South Dakota.

Casketbearers were Joshua Nelson, Craig Nelson, Eli DeJong and Dan Wallace. Honorary bearers were Orville Schneider and Gordon Hedlin.
