The Rev. David L. Valentine came to Withee from Sheldon in April 1981 to become pastor of New Harvest Assembly of God Church, Withee, where he and his family make their home. Pastor Valentine was born July 3, 1948 in Forest Grove, Oregon and grew up on a dairy farm near Sheldon. He graduated in 1967 from Flambeau High School in Tony and in 1971 received his B.S. in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Before entering the ministry, he taught in Christian schools in Orlando, Florida, Nashville, Tennessee and Stewartville, Minnesota also helped in the organization of a new Christian school in Sheldon. He completed his religious training from Berean School of the Bible, Springfield, Missouri, and in March 1981 received his ministerial credentials from National Assemblies of God. In March 1984 he will be ordained. Valentine is a substitute teacher at Owen-Withee Junior/Senior High School and a member of the communities' Positive Action Committee. He and his wife, Joanne, are the parents of a 9-year-old daughter, Stephanie.
