Chupp, Sylvia (19 June 1939 – 11 May 2022)
Sylvia (Burkholder) Chupp, age 82, was born June 19, 1939, in Bremen, Indiana to
Joseph Jr. and Fannie (Slabaugh) Burkholder. After a period of declining health,
she passed away May 11, 2022, surrounded by her family.
On November 12, 1959, she married Emery F. Chupp. After being married for 4
years, two and a half months, he preceded her in death on Jan. 25, 1964. Sylvia
lived in widowhood for over 58 years.
She is survived by her four children: Paul and Rachel Chupp, Spencer; Naomi and
Aaron Sommers, Richland Center; Laura and Duane Miller, Madison, New York; and
Floyd Ray and Rosa Chupp, Salem, Indiana; 32 grandchildren; 35
great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Fern and Mervin Miller and Linda Menzie.
Sisters-in-law, Katie Ann Hochstetler, Esther and Ora Miller, Susie and Diedrich
Fehr and Fern Burkholder and brother-in-law, Melvin Miller.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emery; her parents; 2 grandchildren:
Mary Kay Chupp and Jeffrey Miller and a great-grandson, Bryan Hostetler; and her
siblings and in-laws, Edith and Ammon Hochstetler; Ward and Verna Burkholder;
Earl Burkholder; Ray and Lorene Burkholder; Owen Burkholder; Carl and Rosetta
Burkholder; Ruth Miller; and Kenny Menzie.
A viewing will be held Thursday, May 12, 2022, from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. at the
Spencer Amish Church, W386 Mann Rd. Spencer, Wisconsin, where a funeral service
will be held at 10 A.M. on Friday, May 13, 2022.
A viewing will also be held on May 14, 2022, from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. at the
Mark Stutzman residence (7806W 750N Etna Green, IN) where a funeral service will
be held at 2 P.M. on Sunday, May 15, 2022. Burial will be at Graber Cemetery,
Nappanee, IN.
