Mrs. Matt J. Phillippi died at her home at Alston, Mich., on Wednesday, June 26, 1929 of kidney disease and goiter after an illness of about two months. Deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Wagner and was born in Thorp, Clark County, Wis., on Dec. 3, 1886. She had reached the age of 42 years, 6 months and 22 days. After graduating from the Thorp High School she taught school in the Goff district, town of Reseburg for two years and in the primary school in this village. On Feb. 2, 1909 she was united in marriage to Mr. M. J. Phillippi residing at Athens for several years and for the past seven years at Alston. She leaves to mourn her untimely death her husband, two daughters, Kathleen, 17, Marian, 13, two sons, James, 15 and John, aged 3 years. Also her parents, three sisters, Mrs. Joseph Walsdorf and Miss Gretchen Wagner of Milwaukee, Mrs. A. G. Rasmussen and one brother, Wm. S. Wagner of Thorp. The body was brought here for interment on Friday last and the funeral took place at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday last, from St. Bernard's Church, Father A. M. Muckerheide officiating, burial following the services in the Thorp Village Cemetery.
The pallbearers were L. P. Walsdorf, Frank Broeren, Cletus Greisch, Joseph Klouda Jr., L. J. Snyder and R. J. Brunner.
