WAR MOTHER HERE

Last Wednesday Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tormey of Thorp were Neillsville visitors, coming down to make preparations for Mrs. Tormey’s trip to Europe with other gold-star mothers who go to visit the graves of sons buried in the war cemeteries in France. Mrs. Tormey’s son Cecil G. Tormey enlisted early in the war as a musician and died at Brest, France, soon after his arrival over seas. He was buried at Brest, but later the body was removed to the Ouise-Aisne Cemetery, one of the large burial places for American soldiers.

Wisconsin Gold-Star mothers expect to sail from New York on June 14, and Mrs. Tormey will join others this part of the state in the journey to New York a few days previous to their sailing. The United Sates government is paying all expenses and furnishing every comfort and convenience for the trip. The privileges of this expedition are also extended to widows of deceased soldiers whose bodies are buried over seas, if such widows have not re-married.

More than 100 mothers and widows from Wisconsin have registered for the trip.
