Jesse Rowe, who underwent a serious operation at Luther Hospital, passed away there at 10:30 Friday forenoon, Jan. 17. Jesse Everett Rowe; son of Mr. and Mrs. William Rowe was born in the town of York October 15, 1880, and had reached the age of 49 years, 3 months and 2 days at the time of his death. He grew to manhood on the home farm in the town of York. In 1906 he went to Milwaukee to working a furniture factory. July 24, 1907 he was married to Miss Elsya Meyer at Wauwautosa. They made their home in Milwaukee until 1916, when they moved back to the town of York, remaining there until last spring when they came to Neillsville, residing here since.

Mr. Rowe was a man of good habits, quiet in manner and was well like in the community. He was a kind husband and father and a good neighbor.

He is survived by his wife and nine children -- one daughter and eight sons, namely: Miss Cleo who teaches in the rural schools; Byrl and Elmer, young men who work in this locality; Laverne a student in Granton High School; Buford, Gerald, James, Robert and Douglas at home. The death of Mr. Rowe is a server blow to the home and family; the youngest child is only a year and a half old and others still too young to help in the support of the home, and the keenest sympathy is felt for the wife and children among their friends and acquaintances.

Besides the wife and children, Mr. Rowe leave to mourn his death his aged mother, a sister, Mrs. A. P. Fulwiler, and a brother Forest Rowe, all living in the Iron Mountain, Mich., three other brothers, Walter H. Rowe of the town of York, Vernon Rowe of McCleary, Washington and Glenn Rowe of Milwaukee; another brother, Ernie Rowe is deceased.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, services being held at the home at 1 o’clock and at York Center church at 2:30 o’clock, Rev. S. J. Lambright officiating. The services were attended by members of the Modern Woodman order of which deceased was a member. Burial took place in the family lot in York Center cemetery.
