Marth, Henry (2 Oct. 1861 - 11 May 1930)
Henry F. Marth, for nearly sixty years a resident here, died Sunday evening, May 11, at his home on Grand Ave. Mr. Marth was born in Germany, Oct. 2, 1861. At the age of 7 years he came with his parents to West Bend, Wis. Three years later the family came to Clark County and settled on a farm in Pine Valley. Here he grew to manhood. As an early age he began working as a section man on the railroad; which he followed for 35 years. He was married to Miss Mathilda Dittman, Nov. 23, 1884. He continued to live on the farm while still working for the railroad. Later they moved to the city to be nearer to his work. About 17 years ago his health failed and since then he has not been able to work steadily.
Mr. Marth was a quiet friendly man, well like by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife and three sisters: Mrs. Tena Ulrich in California; Mrs. Aug. Marg in Pine Valley; Mrs. John Weiting, Neillsville, Two sons, Alfred and William, grew to manhood and died here.
Funeral services will be held for Mr. Marth Thursday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and 2:00 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Rev. Baumar officiating.
