Gray, Robert P. (1926? - 22 JAN 2001)
Robert P. Gray, 74, Montgomery, IL, (formerly of Thorp, Clark County, Wis.) passed away jan. 22, 2001, at his home, from complication of prostate cancer.
A native of La Crosse, WI, Bob served in the U. S. Navy during both World War II and the Korean War. He taught school in Wisconsin before joining Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Milwaukee. He moved to Illinois in 1957 to help open the Aurora plant, and retired from Cat in 1983, after 30 years of service.
Survivors included one daughter, Ann Gray (Wayne) Smallwood of Springfield, Illinois, two sons: Robert K. "Bert" Gray of Oswego, IL and David L. (Lori) Gray of Jacksonville, Florida; a brother, David S. (Jan) Gray of Sparta, WI; also five grandchildren: Tom and Peter Gray, Eve and Hope Smallwood and Isaac Gray.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances (Knight) Gray, his parents, Robert H. and Norma (Partridge) Gray.
