Theiler, Raymond Theiler (7 June 1942 – 16 June 2022) With Flag
Raymond Fredrick Theiler was born June 7, 1942, to Ruth Prine and Raymond
Cyrtmus.
At an early age Ray was adopted into the family of William and Emma (Trachsel)
Theiler. Ray lived most of his life in Humbird and the surrounding area. Due to
ill health he had been hospitalized before entering hospice care and moving into
the home of his daughter Jennifer in rural Taylor. It was here at her home that
he passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 16, 2022, having reached the age of 80
years and 9 days.
Ray had attended school in Humbird before entering the U.S. Army, where he
served his country in Germany and France. Upon his honorable discharge he
returned to Humbird and since then had been a member of the Humbird American
Legion.
Throughout Ray’s life he had been employed in the Humbird area working as a farm
hand, in the iron mine and at the cranberry bogs. He enjoyed taking frequent
nature rides and spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
Ray will be dearly missed by his 3 daughters, Jennifer Amundson of Taylor, Kerry
Theiler of Fairchild, and Luci “Roo” Theiler of Augusta; 11 grandchildren,
Damon, Samantha, Ryan, Matthew, Courtney and Autumn Amundson, Tyler and Tayah
Bedell, Brookelynn, Logan and Aiden Barnett; 7 great grandchildren; brother Kal
(Sue) Theiler of Humbird; 2 sisters, Dixie Gansel of Aptos, CA, and Peg Koplitz
of Greely, CO; several nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; wife Carol on Jan. 29, 2013; sister,
Raeleen Bartel; brothers, William “Sonny” Theiler Jr., Fredrick Theiler and
Roger Cyrtmus.
Graveside services will be held Friday, June 24, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Mentor
Cemetery in Humbird, with military honors conducted by the Humbird American
Legion Post. A Celebration of Life will follow immediately from 11:00 a.m. to
2:00 p.m. at the Mentor Town Hall .
