Milligan, Oliver (9 NOV 1838 - 7 Mar 1923)
Oliver Milligan was born in County Antrim, Ireland, Nov. 9th, 1838, and died at his home in this village March 7th, 1923.
His parents were John and Mary (McKendry) Milligan. He remained at home until he was 15 years of age, and then came to the U. S., landing in this country after a voyage of 31 days in a sailing vessel. In the spring of 1864 he enlisted at Neillsville, Clark County, Wis. in Co. G. Fifth Wis. Vol. Inf.
After the surrender of Lee, Mr. Milligan returned to Neillsville, and 5 years later, on May 21st, 1870, was married to Henrietta Lyons, and to this union were born 10 children, 6 of who are still living, William of Walla Walla, Wash., Frank of Beulah, N.D., Hugh of Harrisburg, Ore., Fred of Stanley, Wis., Harry of Elma, Wash., and Mrs. Dan Cartner (Castner?) of Loyal.
The writer has known the deceased for years, and knew him to be a kind and loving husband and father, a good neighbor and a true friend.
The funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the house at 2 o'clock, the Rev. J. H. Chatterson officiating.
Interment was made in the Loyal Cemetery.
