Laura Braun, formerly Hessel, was born in Nerchan Saxony, Germany September 27, 1858. In 1882 she came to this country and settled in Sheboygan, where she lived for two years. She then came to Greenwood where on March 23, 1889 she was united in marriage to Gottfried Braun. Mr. Braun preceded her in death, passing away on June 20, 1922. In 1910 Mr. & Mrs. Braun left Greenwood and moved to Sheboygan where they at first lived on a farm and later in the city. Mrs. Braun died March 5, 1924 at the home of Chas. Thielke in Milwaukee. She had reached the age of 65 years 5 months and 8 days.

She leaves four brothers and one half-sister. One brother, Richard Hessel, is living at Sheboygan, while the rest reside in Germany. One sister Mrs. Kreissg died last December. The body was brought here for burial and funeral services were held from the local Reformed Church last Saturday afternoon. Interment' was made in Oak Hill Cemetery in Braun Settlement. Rev. O. Vrieion officiated.
