Jim Schmidt received a ceremonial golden ax from Lony Halvorsen, battalion chief
of Central Fire station 1 in Colby, last Thursday. The ax was presented to
Schmidt as a retirement gift for his 34 years as a local firefighter. Schmidt
will continue to serve as an EMT.
