Nichols, Mary (16 FEB 1879 - 1 Jan 1918)

Mrs. Mary Nichols wife of M.R. Nichols died at her home at Elmhurst, Wis. Jan. 1st, after many months, aged 38 years, 10 months, 15 days.

Mary Clouse was born Feb. 16, 1879. She was united in marriage to Mr. Myros Nichols Nov. 9th. 1899, in the town of Loyal. To this union were born of six sons, Lester, Burl, Chauncey, Forest, Howard, and Oryal, who with the husband are left to mourn the loss of a loving wife and mother.

She leaves behind four brothers, Frank and Chas Clouse, Irs and Alfred Rogers, six sisters Mrs. Huloa Palmer, Mrs. Sarah Clouse, Mrs. Lily Geer, Mrs. Nina Clow, Mrs. Bessie Rogers, and Mrs. Bruley besides other relatives and best of friends.

About fourteen years ago Mr. and Mrs. Nichols moved to Elmhurst where she resided at the time of her death.

The remains were brought here Thursday, the funeral services being held at the M.E. Church on Friday Jan. 4th Rev Strevey officiating. She was laid to rest in the Dodgeville cemetery.

A precious one from us has gone, A voice we loved is stilled, A place is vacant in our home, Which never will be filled. God in his wisdom has recalled, This form that her safely given, Tho the body slumbers here, The soul is safe in heaven.

Mary Nichols’s (nee Clouse) obituary (copied to the Clark County website) is not written correctly in regards to her brothers and sisters. I am aware of 3 brothers (Charles, George Frank, and Unknown name) and no sisters for Mary Nichols ( nee Clouse). The other brothers and sisters listed in Mary Nichol’s obituary are really the brothers and sisters of Sarah Clouse (nee Rogers). The names appear to be spelled correctly in Sarah Clouse’s (nee Rogers) obituary.
