Schwan, Ernest A. (19 Feb 1846 - 22 Mar 1918)

PIONEER LAID TO REST

Mr. Ernst A. Schwan died at his home in this village March 22nd 1918 at the age of 72 years, 1 month, and 12 days.

The deceased was born Feb. 19th 1846 in Koenigadorf, W. Prussia, Germany and lived there until 1869 when he came to this country, settling in Berlin.

In 1872 he moved to Hartford, where on Nov. 10, 1872 , he was united in marriage to Miss Henrietta Pobanz. One year later he moved to Clark Co. settling on a farm 3 miles north east of the village, where he lived until 1912, when he moved to this village.

To this union were born three sons O.J. Schwan of Beaver, Louis H. of Chicago and Chas. W. who died in 1912; four daughters Mrs. A. Grob and Mrs. Harry Voss both of Merrill, Mrs. Walter E. Meyers of Manitowoc, who, besides the wife are left to mourn the loss of a kind husband and father. Mr. Schwan was a man that was respected by all who knew him.

He was a faithful member of the local Lutheran Church, from which church the funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon, March 27., Rev. E. Kemena officiating, assisted by Rev. B. F. Matter. He was laid to rest in the Lutheran Cemetery.

The family have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
