The Riverside Cheese Factory, pictured below, was located in the NW of NW of Sec. 15. It was started by August Dankemeyer in 1906. In about two years the factory was sold to Harry Eide.
Harry Eide finally sold this factory to a group of farmer. By doing so, it became a co-op.
Freeman Dankemeyer, a pioneer of Fremont, was a cheesemaker in this factory for many years.
Mr. Dankemeyer was 92, April 5, 1973. The factory was closed in 1958.
