JoAnn L. Burhop of Owen, has completed basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Also completing basic training at Fort Leonard Wood was Army Pvt. Kurt A. Neibacher, son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd L. Neibacher, Route 2, Dorchester.

During the training, Neibacher received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, first aid, and Army history and traditions. Neibacher is a 1983 graduate of Medford Senior High School.

Coast Guard Ensign Ronald J. Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest L. Johnson, Dorchester, was commissioned in his present rank after graduating from officer candidate school. During the 17-week course at the Coast Guard Reserve Training Center, Yorktown, Virginia, candidates studied navigation, seamanship, communications and leadership, plus Coast Guard search, rescue and law enforcement procedures.
