Established in 1933, the Silver Dome Ballrom is recognized in the National & State Registers of Historic Places for its unique architecture and its rich entertainment history. This one-of-a-kind structure has hosted many of the finest and best-known entertainers in the world, including Autry, Count Basie, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Duke Ellington, The Grassroots, Herman's Hermits, Tommy James and The Shondell's, George Jones, Sammy Kaye, Pee Wee King, Johnny Paycheck, The Six Fat Duchmen, Styx, The Lawrence Welk Orchestra, Whoopee John, Joe Williams, Frankie Yankovic and many others. A local band which play there frequently was organized by Howie Sturtz.
