Wellner, Alvin J. (19 February 1938 – 22 May 2022)
Alvin J. Wellner, 84, Marshfield, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at
Marshfield Medical Center.
Alvin was born on February 19, 1938, in Lindsey, to Anton and Rose (Kolbeck)
Wellner. He was a 1957 graduate of Columbus High School, Marshfield. He married
Janet C. Derfus on June 28, 1974, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Rozellville.
Alvin was self-employed as a painter contractor. He also had been employed at
Marshfield Super Speedway for many years. He was the custodian at Christ
Lutheran Church in Marshfield until his retirement.
He enjoyed tending his beautiful flower gardens, weekly drives to the casino and
walking in the park and seeing the animals.
He is survived by his wife, Janet, several brothers and sisters-in-law and many
nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Rose Wellner, his
parents-in-law, Frank and Martha Derfus, brothers, Ray, Elmer and LeRoy Wellner
and sisters, Margaret Bell, Clara Katzenberger, Katherine Peterson and Helen
Phillippi.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 26, 2022,
at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where the visitation will be from 9:00 a.m.
until service time. Rev. Keith Kitzhaber will officiate. Burial will be in
Brooklawn Memory Gardens Cemetery at a later date. Rembs Funeral Home is
assisting with arrangements.
Memorials may be designated to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
