Andrew Family, Laura
I came to Chili, Clark County, Wis. May 17, 1909, from Iroquois, Ontario, Canada, when I was 19 year old. I came with my uncle Joe Hutt. His son John ran the hotel in Chili. I worked there for a few weeks, then did farm work for my uncle Joe.
At this time there were two grocery stores, three taverns, two hardware stores, a butcher shop, shoemaker shop, post office, blacksmith shop, an Opera House, a hotel, a doctor, a dentist, barber ship, and an Art Siefert, who made beer kegs for a firm in Medford. The Royal Neighbors and Modern Woodmen used to meet in the Opera House.
On July 9, 1923, I was married to Louis Andrew and we moved to a 40-acre farm 1/2 mile south of Chili, into one of the first log houses built in these parts. We had three children, Warren, Bob and Arlene. I have 16 grandchildren. Louis died in 1962. I have lived on this farm for 64 years.
