Montag Family, Harold
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Montag moved to their present farm, one mile east of Chili, Clark County, Wis., in March 1935. Harold was born in Chili on July 4, 1911. He is the son of Mrs. Anna Montag and the late Herman Montag. Mrs. Montag, Hilda Beil, was born in the Town of Lynn in December 1907. She moved to the Town of Fremont in 1911 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Beil.
Harold worked in cheese factories before he began farming. He served on the Forest Side School board, on the church council, and on the Fremont Town Board for sixteen years.
Mrs. Montag is a member of the Ladies Aid Society, has held several offices, and also is a member of the Forest Side Homemakers Club, of which she is now the president. She worked in the Montag store for ten years.
They are members of Christ Lutheran Church in Chili. They have one son, Elgene, living in the Town of Fremont. He is married to the former Joyce Wichman of Marshfield.
