Foemmel, August C.

August C. Foemmel was born September 29, 1856, in the town of Grant, Clark County, Wis. He was married to Louise Schilling on Dec. 7, 1911. They settled on the present 80 acres at that time in a little log cabin. They spent most of their time logging with the help of his brother, Fred Foemmel, Stilman Huntley and Albert Lindow. The logs were mostly cut into cordwood and hauled to the Kindsley landing where it was loaded on the railroad.

August bought the 80 acres that they lived on in 1912 from his father. They built a new house in 1914 and the new barn in 1917. These are still in use on the farm. William and Alvin Lindow helped cut logs for the new barn. Clarence Ninas helped with skidding the logs. These logs for the house and barn were sawed by the Lester McHone sawmill.

After the logging was finished, the land was broke and farmed. In 1949 they bought another 80 acres from Mrs. Louie Lindow. The 160 acres was bought by their son Forest when they retired in April of 1961.

August and Louise Foemmel have three daughters and one son. They are Mrs. Wenzel (Adaline) Lee, Mrs. Wilbert (Alvina) Korth, Mrs. Walter (Violet) Korth, and Forest Foemmel.

Forest Foemmel was married July 31, 1954 to Jeanette Venske. They have four children, Daniel, Debra Jean, Kathy, and Tim.

I noticed from the Immanuel Methodist Cemetery Record for August C. Foemmel that he was actually born in 1886, not 1856 as noted in this biography.
