Cole Family, Harry

My father, Carl Beilke, and mother and two children came to Neillsville, Clark County, Wis. from Germany in 1890. He worked in the Granton and Heintown settlement until 1894, when he bought 40 acres of wild land in Heathville are of Fremont, Clark County. There were seven children. Two died in infancy, Richard (deceased in 1918), Helena (Mrs. Ernest Schlinsog, deceased in 1947), Agatha, deceased in 1959, Louise (Mrs. John Prust), Ernestine, married Harry Cole in 1920, who also owned a farm in Heathville, Section 8. There were three children, Donald (married to Jeanette Beaver of Loyal), Glenn, deceased 1960 (married to Starr Hammer of Iowa), and Marion (Mrs. Chester Meissner). Marion taught the Heathville School in 1944. I served as school treasurer and lived in the Heathville District for 58 years until I sold the farm in 1954 after my husband's death in 1953.

I recall there was a logging camp one mile south of our home farm where my sisters and I would walk through the woods on a logging road to take the mail to the camp. The camp was located west of the Cozy Corner School.
