Beil Family, Paul
Paul Beil and Minnie Raske were married in Chili, Clark County, Wis. on Oct. 15, 1913, and purchased their 40 acre farm in the spring of 1914. "There was a little bit of a house and a little bit of a barn and we started farming with three cows." When the present home was built in 1925, the former place was used as a garage until it burned in 1942. The present barn was built in 1920.
Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Beil; Viola (married Harland Meissner and now farm in Chili); Warren (married Helene Lindow and moved to Mesa, Arizona); Melvin who still resides on the family farm with his own family. Paul died in 1963.
Melvin and his dad farmed on shares until 1960 when the land and facilities were rented to the Harland Meissners. In a gradual process the fram has changed appearance to that of a licensed game farm. Predominant now on the grounds are three ponds and several pens for the raising of ornamental pheasants, ducks, geese, partridge, quail and peafowl. Melvin (and wife Louise) named the place Mel-Lo Acres, and with the older son Jerry, have developed a most attractive place for about fifty varieties of game birds.
