Dankemeyer Family, Martin A.
The present farm was purchased by August F. Dankemeyer in 1876. He did not occupy it until 1878, when he and his brother William came to this township (Fremont, Clark County, Wis.). I was born July 21, 1890, and raised here and helped develop it to its present state with the help of our son William.
I attended Big Four School and was married to Martha Voight on April 5, 1911. We have two children, William and Wanda (Mrs. Elmer Johnson).
I have farmed here all of my life. It presently consists of 600 acres.
I served for 29 years on the Big Four School Board, director of Lynn Mutual Insurance Co. for 38 years, of which I now am President.
I am also Director of First National Bank. My wife and I enjoy reasonably good health, and have just celebrated our 62nd wedding anniversary.
