Foemmel Family, Walter Sr.
Walter and Viola Foemmel purchased their farm home in Fremont Township, Clark County, Wis., in 1923, and moved on it from Granton in the spring of 1924 with their baby daughter Irene. They lived on the farm west of Chili until 1936 and then moved to their present farm north of Chili.
They are the parents of four children, Irene, Mildred, Walter Jr., and Gilbert. All are living in Wisconsin except Irene who resides in Oregon state.
They cleaned up land and made dairying their income. In 1960 they retired from milking but still raise a few beef cattle and make maple syrup, which they have done since 1926. They will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on April 21 with their children and grandchildren. The supper will be provided by the children. He owns and operates his own threshing machine.
