Schmitz Family, William H.
William H. Schmitz was married to Adelia Kops in Dec. 1920.
We came to the town of Fremont, Clark County, Wis. in the fall of 1921 and rented the Carl Beilke farm for one year.
In 1922 we purchased 40 acres from a Mrs. Benedict, and in 1946 purchased a joining 80 acres from Louis Laemle.
We have five children, Shirley (Mrs. Eldred Tesmer), Russell, Leroy, Marlin, and Gary.
In 1954 we rented our farm to our son Leroy and moved to the Del Gardner farm. Leroy purchased the "home farm" in 1960.
In 1968 we moved in with our son Gary when he purchased the Nathan Markham farm (the former Grant Snyder farm).
William was a charter member of the Chili Milk Pool Co-op and served several years on the Heathville School Board, and he also is a veteran of World War I.
In 1970 we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary.
