Stichert Family, William

In the village of Chili, Clark County, Wis., the first farm north is the William Stichert homestead.

William Stichert was born Oct. 10, 1896 at Brillion. He came to a farm near Chili with his folks at an early age. He alter worked in logging camps at Park Falls and Ely, Minn. for the Hines Lumber Co. He passed away May 5, 1969.

In 1918 he purchased his farm in Chili from Herman Koser with many toiling hours ahead. He was a man who believed in honest, fair dealings, and a good day's work. Some of you many remember when the barn was across the road. In the year 1925 he decided to build a new 110' barn, tearing down the old barn and sawing out his own logs furnish much f the lumber for this barn.

In the year 1919 he was married to Lillian Bressman at Chili. She makes her home on the farm. They had two children, Mrs. Malcolm (Virginia) Hansen Willis Stichert, Chili.

Today the farm is operated by his grandsons, Paul, Dana, Willis, Jr. and John Stichert. They have given it the name of "Fremont Acres" and are hoping to continue to work where he left off.
