Miller, Joseph (1 NOV 1850 - 23 Jul 1926)

Joseph Miller was born Nov. 1, 1850 at Landskron, Austria, and died at the Marshfield Hospital following an operation for cancer of the stomach on July 23, 1926, at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 23 days.

The deceased came to America when 14 years of age and settled at Watertown, Wis., where he lived until 25 years ago, when he came to this community (Loyal, Clark County, Wis.), purchasing a two hundred forty acre farm thre and one-half miles southwest of Loyal, which he resided until the time of his death. He was a kind and loving father and his long residence in this community made a host of friends for him who were sad to hear of his death, although his health had been failing for some time.

He was married twice. He is survived by nine children, three sons, Edward of Marshfield, Max and Alvin of Loyal, and six daughters, Mrs. Roy Nelson of Milwaukee, Mrs. Ernest McIntyre of Neillsville, Mrs. Wm. Johnson of Milwaukee, Mrs. Nick beaver, Mrs. E. E. Fulwiler and Clara of Loyal, and twenty-three grandchildren. The deceased is survived by four brothers and one sister, Charles and Robert Miller of Watertown, Vincent Miller of Milwaukee, Edward Miller of Newberry, Mich., and Mrs. Peter Nelson of Milwaukee, and other relatives who mourn his loss.

The funeral services were held Monday morning at nine o'clock at St. Balthasar's Catholic Church under the auspices of the Catholic Knights of Wis., of which order he was a charter member. Rev. Joseph F. Stenz officiated and interment took place at St. Balthasar's Catholic Cemetery here.
