Darton, William E. (24 NOV 1848 - 7 JUN 1927)

William E. Darton died Tuesday evening, June 7, 1927 at his home in the village of Loyal, Clark County, Wis.

W. E. Darton was born Nov. 24, 1848 in Hartford, Wis. Here he grew to manhood. In the spring of 1872 he journeyed westward to Colorado, but returned to Wisconsin the following year. He then took up his residence on an eighty acre farm near Loyal, Wis.

On Dec. 28, 1875 hew as united in marriage to Amelia E. Sheldon of Fond du Lac, Wis. To this union were born two children, Marcia and Sara, who preceded their father in death.

Mr. and Mrs. Darton went to Berthold, N.D. in 1920. Mrs. Darton died in the west. Three years later Mr. Darton returned to his home in Loyal, where he remained until the time of his death.

He leaves to mourn his death, a grandchild, Genevieve Calman, four brothers, Al And Arthur of Loyal, Wis., Henry J., Los Angeles, Calif., Fred M., Minneapolis, Minn. and one sister, Alice Ashley of Columbus, Ohio.

The funeral services were held on Friday, June 10, in the M. E. Church, Rev. James officiating. The Masons took charge of the service at the Loyal Cemetery where the remains were laid to rest.

William Darton is also featured in the book, "Civil War Soldiers in the heart of Clark Co., Wisconsin."
