Carter, Nettie A. (2 March 1865 - 23 Sept. 1930)

Mrs. John Carter passed away at her home on South Hewett Street, Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 23, in her sixty-sixth year. She had been in poor health for some time, and for about five weeks had been confined to her bed, her ailment baffling all medical treatment. She suffered greatly for a time, but was patient under her affliction.

Nettie A. Burr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Burr, was born in Green County, Wis., March 2, 1865. She grew to womanhood in the farm home and on Oct. 27, 1887 was married to John Carter. In 1893 they moved to Clark County and since 1895 have made their home continuously in Neillsville.

Mrs. Carter was a member of the Eastern Star and the Congregational church, and was active in the work on both of these organizations. She was a woman of quiet home-loving habits, a helpful wife and loving mother, and a kindly neighbor. She is survived by her husband and two sons, Clinton of Minneapolis and Burr, living at present in Neillsville. A daughter Theo died in 1912. She leaves also three grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the home, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating.
