On Saturday May 14th, 2022 Thorp Lions gathered at Cindy's in Thorp to celebrate
the club's 90th Anniversary. The Lions club has provided decades of service to
the Thorp community as well as supporting state and international service
projects.
Representatives from 22 Lions clubs as well as numerous Thorp community guests
totaling 118 people were in attendance for the event. The evening began with
social hour followed by call to order from Lion president Terry Wnek, pledge of
allegiance, singing of "America", and a prayer of thanks. After a nice dinner,
thoughts on Lionism were presented by guest speaker PDG Lee Vrieze. Lee
highlighted Thorp Lions' ongoing dedication to providing service to meet
community needs. Awards presentation was given by DG Linda Carter who presented
PDG Lion Bernie Stuttgen the Lion recognition medal, the highest international
honor awarded to a Lion for service. In 1988 Lion Bernie started the Deer Hide
collection project for the state of WI, which has since raised over $1.25
million for the Wisconsin Lions camp in Rosholt, WI. Door prizes and raffles
were conducted and the evening ended with closing remarks of appreciation from
Thorp Lions club president Terry Wnek followed by the singing of "God Bless
America." Thorp Lions club would like extend thanks to all in attendance.
