Menke, Clarence J. (8 Jul 1911 - 21 AUG 2004)

Clarence J. Menke, 93, rural Granton, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 23, at Our Father’s House Christian Community Church, Chili. The Rev. Ron Johnson officiated. Burial was in Town of Rock Cemetery, Nasonville.

Clarence J. Menke was born July 8, 1911, in the town of Rudolph, Wood County, to William C. and Bertha Menke. He grew up in the town of Lynn and resided and farmed in the Lindsey area until 1950, when he moved to and farmed in the town of Fremont until his death. He was educated at Maple Grove School, town of Lynn. He married Evadene K. Smith on June 8, 1946, at Lindsey Church. He worked as a custom crop operator along with jobs at Lynn and Nasonville Dairies. He also worked at Wisconsin Homes, Marshfield, for 29 years. His interests included hunting, fishing, and trapping. He was a member of the Chili Senior Citizens Club.

Survivors include his children, Clara (Ray) Nikolai, Chili, and Louie (Sharon) Menke, Granton; and three grandchildren, Michelle Nikolai, Jodi Menke, and Adam Menke.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Evadene, on Oct.10, 1993; and one brother, Allen.

Buchanan Funeral Home, Neillsville, assisted the family with arrangements.
