An Honor Stone Placement will be held at the Highground Veterans Memorial Park
on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 11:00 am for Eugene Oberle, Korean War Veteran, he
served aboard the USS Heermann as Gunners Mate GMM3.
The military duty assigned to destroyers was to guard the coast of Korea and
protect United States Aircraft Carriers. They often traveled beside the USS
Midway.
Eugene Oberle also served on State Veteran Committees, American Legion Post 118
as Commander, County Commander, and District Vice Commander. He later became
President of the State County Veteran's Association.
The Highground Veteran Memorial Park is a 456 acre retreat founded in 1984 to
honor, educate, and heal veterans. It is a place for fellowship, support and
reflection
