When after 17 years in business Becky Strzok decided to retire an opportunity arose for someone to purchase the bakery located at 114 North Washington Street in Thorp. An opportunity that Jessica Gardner and Julie Petranovich , couldn't pass up. Jessica and Julie who are sisters decided to step away from their careers in education and the medical field to purchase the bakery from the Strzok family.

When asked why they decided to purchase the bake Jessica and Julie said that they have baked their entire lives and that their parents and grandparents were also bakers, combine that with the ability to learn time honored recipes that have been passed down for generations and you have a recipe for success.

On May 4, 2022, Jessica and Julie opened Sweet Memories Bakery LLC. The bakery offers the same quality donuts, breads, cookies and other treats that Sweet Memories of Thorp was famous for. In fact, Jessica and Julie say that they consider it a privilege to have learned these trusted recipes from Becky and that they are striving to maintain the legacy of high quality baked goods that have become synonymous with the Sweet Memories name.
Over time die sisters plan on devolving a monthly menu that they will have available online as well as in print to better assist their customers. One thing is certain and that is if you walk into Sweet Memories Bakery you are greeted with a friendly smile as well as the smell of delicious baked goods. Sweet Memories Bakery is open Monday through Friday 6:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. and Saturday 6:30-11:00 a.m. They are closed on Sunday.

If you get a chance, stop in and say hello to Jessica and Julie, and while you're at it grab a donut or two or perhaps a birthday cake or loaf of fresh baked bread.

Congratulations Jessica and Julie on your new business we wish you many years of Sweet Memories.
