Wenzel, Francis Sebastian (8 March 1873 - 28 Dec. 1930)
Francis Sebastian Wenzel was born in the town of Lima, Sheboygan county March 8, 1873, and died Dec. 28, 1930, from the results of a stroke he suffered on July 10.
He spend the early part of his life in Sheboygan County and in 1900, came to Clark County and purchased a piece of land in the town of Hixon, which was then a wilderness. He with the help of his wife and son have made this farm home. Francis Wendzel was one of the first settlers of northern Clark County. A pioneer who was always willing to lend a helping hand in the building up of the community.
On March 6, 1905 Mr. Wenzel was united in marriage to Johanna Helms, who with their son Milford Helms, who with their son Milford survive him. He was a kind husband and father and a good neighbor, and will be greatly missed by a host of relatives and friends.
Other surviving relatives are a brother, John E. Wenzel and four sisters, Mrs. Wm. Atkin, Mrs. Peter N. Hansen and Mrs. Harry O. Hansen all of Withee and Mrs. E. L. Lee of Chili; besides several nieces and nephews.
Those who came from away to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Brasure of Weyauwego, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Fred Steinberg of Merrillan and Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Lee and son of Chili.
The funeral was held Wednesday at 10 o’clock from St. Mary’s Catholic church at Withee, the Rev. MacGuire officiating. Interment was made in the Riverside cemetery.
