Thiede, Caroline (14 Nov. 1861 - 19 June 1931)
Mrs. Caroline Thiede of the town of Grant died at her home Friday June 19.
Mrs. Thiede, whose maiden name was Caroline Schwerten, was born at Schlesien, Germany, Nov. 14, 1861. She came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schwerten, to this county in 1872. They settled in the town of Grant, where she grew to womanhood and where she was married to Herman Thiede on Nov. 17, 1878. Soon after their marriage they settled on a farm a mile south of the present village of Granton. Mr. Thiede died ten years ago. Mrs. Thiede continued to live on the farm, which was carried on by her son Ewald. Recently Mrs. Thiede bought another farm near by and until her death lived there with a daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Lowe, and another daughter, Emma. Besides the children mentioned, she leaves two daughters, Mrs. Ed. Wiesner of the town of Lynn and Mrs. Gust Garbisch of the town of York.
The funeral was held Monday afternoon at Zion Lutheran Church of Grant, Rev. J. G. Buth officiating.
The pallbearers were Henry Winter, Henry Braatz, Herman Braatz, August Hillert, Paul Goebel and Wm. Wischuelke.
