Canon, Alice (2 June 1851 - 14 July 1931)
Death claimed Mrs. S. R. Canon, a former pioneer resident of Tenino, at San Diego, California, on July 14, at the age of 80. The funeral was held July 16 at LaMesa, Calif., with Eastern Star services.
She was born June 2, 1851, near Plainfield, Wisconsin. As Alice Seeley she was marriage to S. R. Canon in 1868, and in 1869 they took up a homestead near Neillsville, Wisconsin. In 1884 they went to Merrill, Wis., and in October, 1888, came to Tenino. Mr. and Mrs. Canon went to California in 1907, where Mr. Canon died in 1928.
She was the mother of three daughters and four sons. Surviving are three sons: John, Louis and Byron; a daughter, Mrs. J. B. Olinger; and an adopted son, Ferdinand Stange of Tenino. Mrs. Lizzie Topper, a daughter, had been a resident of Grand Mound just previous to her death in 1929. -- Tenino, Wash., Independent.
