Hayes, Perry (13 June 1848 - 1931)

Perry Hayes was born in Muskewgum County, Ohio, June 13th 1848. With his parents, brothers and sister he came to Wisconsin and settled in Vernon County in 1863.

In 1872 he was united in marriage to Mary LePage, and they made their home near Viroqua until thirty years ago, when they left there and came to Lindsey where he has resided until his death *Dec. 27, 1920.

He leaves to mourn his death, his widow, one brother, nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Mr. Hayes has lived in Lindsey for 30 years and was loved by everybody. He has many friends and in this village and surrounding community and will be greatly missed by them. He was a member of the local Methodist church and has contributed much toward his erection and support.

The funeral was held Sunday in the Methodist church at Lindsey, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating, the pastor, Rev. Wendel Bennetts being absent. The pallbearers were: Carl Knutson, Paul Martin, Jay Crouch, F. Kaddoo, Wm Dix and C. Ingle.

*This is the way the original obituary was typed. I believe this is an error. It could be his wife’s death date.??

**1920 Census Wisconsin, Wood County, Rock: Lists Perry age 71 and wife Mary.

**1930 Census Wisconsin, Wood County, Rock: Lists Perry age 80 and wife Matilda.

If anyone has more the correct information on the family, please post it. Thanks. Again, I am not related to this family line. Just providing information I have found.
