Smith, Mr./Mrs. S. A. D. (50th Anni. - 11 May 1931)
A golden wedding surprise was given Mr. and Mrs. S. A. D. Smith by their family at their son, Arthur D. Smith’s home at Neillsville last Sunday. Their daughter Nettie Vine having a birthday on the 9th, their granddaughter Anita Vine’s birthday on the 12th and Mother’s Day on the 10th; their anniversary on the 11th, all were merged and celebrated on the 10th, and it was a grand success. Over thirty were present.
A very nice dinner and supper was furnished by their family and also two nicely decorated wedding cakes where presented by Mrs. Arlo Husckstead, which shows a kind heart and a noble spirit, and for which we offer our humble thanks. There were four generations represented, little Jack Cameron being the fourth. There were some nice gifts and many appropriate cards received and appreciated and the day will be long remembered by them.
The guests from out of town were Wm. Smith, wife and daughter Zona of Kenosha; Wm. Lingley, wife and daughter Wilma, Racine; Stanley Austin and Anita Vine, Columbus; Mr. and Mrs. Peterson, Sr., Joe Peterson and wife, Black River Falls. The home folks were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Smith and son Rolly, Mrs. Nettie Vine and son Donald, Mr. and Mrs. Bergen Smith and three sons Everett, Ralph and Herbert and daughter Marie; Mrs. J. Cameron and son Jack, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. West and daughters Beulah, Daisy and Rica and son Roy.
