C. C. SNITEMAN HONORED
C. C. Sniteman has recently received a certificate of membership in the Semi-Centenialists of the Alumni Associations of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. Mr. Sniteman graduated from this college in 1871, over 60 years ago and would have been eligible to a membership in the Semi-Centenialists ten years ago, if the association had been organized at that time.
Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science is the oldest institution of its kind in America ......perhaps the oldest in the world; Pharmacy in its earlier days being taught only privately to apprentices. Mr. Sniteman is among the oldest living alumni of the College. He has seen wonderful changes in the methods of manufacturing and compounding drugs and medicines ......many of the tinctures, extracts and other preparations now manufactured on a large scale and sold to retailers were prepared in the apothecary shop when he graduated. He has been a keen student, of the changes in the business, and kept fully abreast of the times. He, is common with the members of this association, looks upon this profession as one devoted to the good of humanity, and all will agree that it is a high honor to hold a diploma of membership that shows over half a century of pharmacy service. Geo. Sontag who is associated with Mr. Sniteman in the drug business graduated from the same College. He has eight years to go before he is eligible to a certificate from the Semi-Centenialists.
