Schjoneman, Dorothy Marie (13 July 1920 - 27 Sept. 2004)

COLBY, WIS. - Dorothy M. Schjoneman, 84, of Colby died at her residence Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, with her family at her side.

Funeral services for Dorothy will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. The Rev. Pastor Mark Neumann will officiate.

Inurnment will be in the town of Brighten Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Marty Schjoneman, Jeffrey Seefluth, Matthew Razink, Scott Schjoneman, Brad Schjoneman, Ryan Seefluth and John Laabs.

Visitation with family and friends will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford.

Dorothy Marie Sabler was born July 13, 1920, in Colby, the daughter of Carl and Minnie (Franz) Sabler. She was a graduate of Colby High School and worked in the family grocery store. Dorothy and Merlin Schjoneman were united in marriage on March 1, 1938, in Marshfield.

For more than 15 years, Dorothy owned and operated the original Like-New Store in Colby. She had great pride in her community and served as president of Zion Lutheran Church Ladies Aid; past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2227 Ladies Auxiliary of Colby, president of Friends of the Library; presiding president of the American Legion Post No. 0266 Ladies Auxiliary; and was one of the original founders of Colby Homemakers Club. She enjoyed fishing and was an avid card player. Merlin and Dorothy traveled throughout the United States and Europe, enjoying the sights and memories. She worshipped her grandchildren as an extraordinary grandmother.

Dorothy will be dearly missed by her husband of 66 years, Merlin Schjoneman of Colby; three sons, Allen (Gloria) Schjoneman of Holcombe, Mark (Barbara) Schjoneman of Colby, and Kirk (Marilyn) Schjoneman of Denmark; two daughters, Karen Schjoneman of Colby and Margo (Richard) Seefluth of Owen; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Janice Lee; and one sister, Serena Schade.

A memorial will be established in her name at a later date.
