Mr. and Mrs. Amiel Lindow, Granton, route 2, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a 7 o'clock dinner at their farm home June 28, the 50th anniversary of their marriage. For the occasion the house was festooned with gold and white streamers, garden flowers, and tall gold candles decorated the table centered with a three tier wedding cake decorated with gold and white leaves and flowers. The evening was spent socially and the couple received gifts of money from their guests.
Mr. Lindow, 71 years old, born and educated in Brillion, Calumet County, came to Clark County at the age of 14 and worked for his brother on the farm. His wife, the former Nettie Breseman, who was born in the Town of Wayne, in Washington County, April 8, 1870, moved with her father to Clark County when she was 10 and attended the grade schools there.
The couple were married June 28, 1893, in the old Evangelical Church at Granton and in 1898 purchased 40 acres of land, the site of their present farm, and built a log home. Later another 40 acres was added to the farm and the modern home in which they now reside with their son, Raymond, and his family, was built.
All four of their children--Mrs. Charles (Eva) MEISSNER, Mrs. Fred (Abbie) ZUEHLKE, and Raymond LINDOW, all of Granton; and Mrs. Alfred (Gertrude) ANDING, Marshfield--attended the celebration. They have nine grandchildren, all of whome except Sgt. Oris Anding, who is with the U.S. Army in Australia, were also present.
Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Meissner; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Zuehlke and son, Leon; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Anding and son, Billy; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Lindow and children, Wallace, June, Merlin, and Gloria Ann; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence PETERSON; Pvt. and Mrs. Delmore PETERSON Mr. and Mrs. Fred Zuehlke Sr., and son, Leonard; Mr. and Mrs. Louis KNOOP; Mr. and Mrs. Leland GERBER and children, Marvin, Vivian, and Lois; and Miss Arlene GUK.
