Phoebe Purkis Unity-Mrs.Clyde (Phoebe) Purkis,80, formerly of Unity, Wisconsin, died Sunday at the Colonial House Living Center, Colby. Services will be at 11a.m. Wednesday at Rux Funeral Home Colby. The Rev. Kenneth A. Dix of First United Church of Christ, Colby, will officiate. Burial will be in the Town of Brighton Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

The former Phoebe Evenson was born June 10, 1905 in Thorpe Wi. She attended Thorpe and Jump River schools.

She was married to Clyde Purkis Dec. 23, 1923. She and her husband farmed in the Town of Unity, retiring in 1945 and moving to the village of Unity. Her husband died June 16,1973.

Surviving are two sons, Clyde Jr. Marshfield, and Delbert, Jackson, Mo; nine grandchildren;15 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and two sisters, Laura Warner, Chippewa Falls, and Susey Olson, Eau Claire. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, three brothers and one sister. This was from the Marshfield News Herald. She died 12-13-1985
