Miles, Rosa (20 FEB 1858 - 6 Feb 1928)
Mrs. Arthur R. Miles died at her home in the village on Monday Feb. 6, 1928. She had not been as well as usual for the past few weeks but for a few days preceding her death was looking and feeling better, so that her death came as a shock to her relatives and friends.
Rosa Allen was born in Catarangus, N. Y., Feb. 20, 1858. She came to Clark Co. when a child and lived on a farm south west of Loyal. On Nov. 1, 1874 she was married to Arthur Miles and has made her home here since, with the exception of five years when they lived in Winona.
Five children were born to this union, three of whom survive, Mrs. Bertha Helms of Glidden, Mrs. Florence Whitney of Loyal and Mrs. Lois Jenks of Winona and four grandchildren, besides other relatives and a large circle of friends.
Mrs. Miles was converted and joined the Methodist Church when young and has been an active Christian, always ready to do anything to advance the cause of Christianity. Hers was a busy, helpful, life as many in this vicinity can testify to this helpfulness and to the many acts of kindness.
She was public spirited and took an interest in every public enterprise for the betterment of the community.
The funeral services were held at the Methodist church at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, Rev. Wilson Mallory officiating, assisted by Rev. Wadding. It was largely attended by friends who gathered to pay tribute to the deceased. Interment was made in the Loyal Cemetery beside her husband.
