Horel, Elijah (1826? - 6 Jan 1910)
Death took another of the early settlers of these parts, Thursday of last week, when Mr. Elijah Horel succumbed at his home in Braidyville, Iowa. Mr. Horel was a native of England, one of a family of six sons and two daughters. The family came to America and fifty-six years ago, when a young man of 28 years, he became one of our pioneers and took up an began the development of the farm which is now owned by Frank Hafner. The story of his life is the same as that of every one of the first settlers, the struggles of which but a few years ago were familiar to many, but now their numbers are few.
Mr. Horel left here some twenty-five years ago and went to Tomah to live. A few years ago he went to Braidyville, Iowa, to pass the remaining days with a nephew, Arthur Horel. Mr. Horel never married and never knew the fullest blessings of home life. He was 83 yeas old and is survived by a brother, Isaac Horel, of this village (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.). The burial was in Braidyville.
