She went to Iowa and lived with her aunt and uncle and graduated from high school in Iowa. Frances then came to Eau Claire and attended Teachers College. She had many friends in Eau Claire and never missed a Sunday at the Calvary Baptist Church in Eau Claire. Frances wrote many beautiful poems, had a book of poems published in her name and was a guest speaker at many places. She was the president of the Poetry Society and honored for her poems and voice in Eau Claire and Minneapolis.
"A Poem After I’m Gone"
After I’m gone
May thoughts of me
Be gently echoed.
Through the halls of time
A sweet cadence
Of rhythmic notes
In my happy memories
Lighten the line of others
May they keep the love of me
Embodied in their hearts
No regrets
God filled
My cup with joy.
Frances is survived by her brother, Jacob Barr of Greenwood, Wis.; her sister, Anna Fae Heck of Neillsville, where she had lived this last year; and several nieces and nephews.
