Tykac, Erna (17 Sept. 1906 - 27 Nov. 2004)

Erna Tykac, age 98, formerly of Marshfield, died Saturday morning on Nov. 27, 2004, at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center in Plymouth. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Lutheran Church.

The Rev. Tricia Turner will officiate. Kathy Biederwolf will provide music with William Allen serving as soloist. Burial will be in the town of Lynn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert and Roger Tykac, Sandra Cook, Marilyn Brion, Sherrell Dean and Wayne Garbisch. Friends May call from 10 a.m. until the service at the church on Wednesday. Hansen Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Tykac was born Sept. 17, 1906, in Granton, a daughter of the late Robert and Amelia (Gluck) Garbisch. She attended Granton Schools.

The former Erna Garbisch was united in marriage to Frank Tykac on Dec. 12, 1926, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Granton. He preceded Erna in death on Feb. 16, 1988. The couple farmed in Granton until 1942, when they came to Marshfield. In addition to being a farm wife and mother, Mrs. Tykac worked at Roddis and Weyerhaeuser companies prior to her retirement.

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, the Pricilla Circle and the church's quilting group, the "Piece Corp." One of Erna's hobbies was flower gardening.

Mrs. Tykac is lovingly survived by one son, Donald (Donna Rae) Tykac, of Plymouth, 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
